Structural laboratories in Bangladesh play a pivotal role in advancing civil engineering research and education. The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) houses the Structures and Materials Laboratory, one of the country’s largest structural engineering testing facilities. Spanning 6,000 square feet, it is equipped with modern testing machines, including ten universal testing machines with various capacities, impact testing machines, and a 1,000-ton reaction frame. These facilities enable routine strength tests of materials such as steel, timber, plastic, and rubber, adhering to relevant standards.
