Asphalt emulsion is a dispersion of bitumen and water, with a cationic or anionic emulsifying agent. The bitumen content in the emulsion is around 60% and based on the mix stability, the emulsion can be Rapid Setting (RS), Medium Setting (MS), or Slow Setting (SC). Different types of emulsions require different tests; the most common are water content, setting time and residue on sieving.
