Determination of Particle Shape

Aggregates’ characteristics such as dimension, shape, planarity and angularity as well as their classification can be carried out with our aggregate lab equipment specifically designed to assess particle shape and full compliant with EN / ASTM standards.

Bar Sieves (Grid)

Bar sieves are used to determine the flakiness index of aggregates.

Efflux Index Apparatus

The Efflux Index Apparatus is designed to obtain information about the shape and the angularity of grains of the 0.063-2 mm fraction of aggregates.

Flakiness Sieves

Flakiness sieves are used to determine whether aggregate particles are to be considered flaky, i.e. their thickness is less than 0.6 of their nominal size.

Length Gauge

The length gauge is used for determining the elongation index of aggregates.

Proportional Caliper

A proportional caliper is used for the rapid and easy determination of percentage of flat particles, elongated particles or both in coarse aggregate

Shape Index Apparatus

A Shape Index Apparatus is used to determine the shape factor of the aggregates.

Thickness Gauge

A thickness gauge is used to determine if aggregate particles are to be considered flaky, i.e. with a thickness less than 0.6 of their nominal size.
