Jar Mills

Jar mills are designed to mill aggregate samples reducing particle sizes down from 1-5 mm to pass through a 300 µm approx sieve (depending on hardness of the material).

The machine is fitted within a noise reduction cabinet with a safety switch for safe operation conforming to CE directives and with a 0-99 minute digital timer.

Two version are available:

  • 48-D0544: mill capacity 0.3 or 1 l. For this machine the jars are not included and have to be ordered separately. Please refer to the accessories section.
  • 48-D0544/A: mill capacity 1.5 l. Jar and grinding load included.

Spare grinding loads suitable for all jars version are available. See accessories.

This is one of the apparatus required to obtain particles that pass through 300 µm sieve conforming to ASTM C289.

Note: dry grinding is not usually permitted. We strongly recommend water inside the jar to reduce friction and heating. In case of dry grinding, please contact our Technical Department.

The use of a pedestal is strongly recommended.
